Statistics
Statistics: users
Learn how to read the Users tab of your experience statistics to track screen views, cookie acceptance, traffic sources, UTM links, and your audience's technical profile.
The Users tab of your statistics helps you better understand the behavior of the people who access your experience. It gathers view counts, traffic origin, and the technical profile of your visitors in a series of easy-to-read charts.
What is it for?
This tab centralizes everything related to the people who launch your experience. It lets you:
- measure the number of views, screen by screen;
- know the cookie acceptance rate;
- identify the sources that generate the most traffic;
- track the precise origin of your visitors thanks to UTM links;
- understand the technical profile of your audience (operating systems, browsers, devices).
Access the Users tab
- Open your experience's statistics.
- Select the Users tab.
- Find the global view in the Overview section, then scroll down the page to explore the detailed charts.
The Users chart
Located in the Overview section, this bar chart displays the number of views for each screen that makes up your experience.
It also shows the percentage of users who accepted cookies, distinguishing those who accepted all cookies from those who declined some of them.
Traffic sources
These charts let you determine which sources generated the most traffic on your experience. Each curve represents a source and fluctuates according to the number of visits.
Global
This chart gives you an overall view of your experience's traffic sources:
- Direct: number of users who launched the experience from a direct link.
- Paid: number of users who launched the experience from an Instagram or Facebook ad link.
- Social: number of users who launched the experience from a social network.
- Display: number of users who launched the experience from a display advertising campaign.
- Organic: number of users who launched the experience from an Instagram or Facebook link (excluding ads).
- Email: number of users who launched the experience from a link in an email.
- QRCode: number of users who launched the experience from a link generated by QR Code.
- Referral: number of users coming from a third-party website.
- Other: number of users who launched the experience from another type of link.
The data is first collected and recorded as raw data in the Users by source chart. It is then sorted into the Global chart according to the categories detailed above.
Social networks
This chart gives you a periodic breakdown of the number of users who launched the experience specifically from social networks.
Social networks (paid)
This chart gives you a periodic breakdown of the number of users who accessed the experience specifically from a paid ad on social networks.
Users by source
This chart answers a simple question: which sources generate the most traffic on your experience? It gathers the raw data before it is distributed into the categories of the Global chart.
Users by UTM
Several charts provide information about users who launched the experience through links tracked with UTMs:
- UTM_source: the origin of the link (for example a social network or a newsletter).
- UTM_medium: the channel used (email, advertising, social network).
- UTM_campaign: the campaign the link is attached to.
- UTM_content: the content or link variant that was clicked.
To learn more about UTMs and how to set them up, read the article What are UTMs for and how to use them on my experience?
Technical profile of users
Three charts detail the technical environment of your audience:
- OS: the breakdown of participants by operating system (Mac OS, Windows, Android…).
- Browsers: the breakdown of users by the browser they used (Safari, Chrome…).
- Devices: the different devices used by the users of your experience.
Note: only data from users who gave their consent to cookies is available.
Best practices
- Add UTMs to your distribution links to get precise tracking of each traffic source.
- Compare periods regularly to spot your best-performing channels.
- Cross-reference the cookie acceptance rate with your view counts to interpret technical data correctly.
- Rely on the OS, Browsers, and Devices charts to test your experience on the devices most used by your audience.
Concrete use cases
If you want to measure the effectiveness of an ad campaign
Check the Social networks (paid) chart along with the Users by UTM section to isolate the traffic coming from your ads and track the corresponding campaign.
If you want to understand where your visitors come from
Use the Global chart in the Sources section to visualize the split between direct, social, email, QR Code, referral, and other traffic.
If you want to optimize how your experience displays
Look at the OS, Browsers, and Devices charts to adapt your experience to the systems, browsers, and devices most common among your users.
FAQ
Where can I find the Users tab in Fastory?
It is located in your experience's statistics. The global view of views and cookie acceptance appears in the Overview section.
What does the displayed cookie percentage mean?
The Users chart shows the share of visitors who accepted cookies, separating those who accepted all cookies from those who declined some of them.
What is the difference between the Paid and Organic sources?
Paid covers users who came from an Instagram or Facebook ad, while Organic covers those who arrived through an Instagram or Facebook link outside of ads.
How does Fastory classify traffic sources?
Visits are first recorded as raw data in the Users by source chart, then automatically sorted into the categories of the Global chart (Direct, Paid, Social, Email, QRCode…).
Why use UTM links with my experience?
Links tracked with UTMs let Fastory detail the precise origin of your visitors (source, medium, campaign, content). This gives you a fine-grained view of your distribution channels.
Why do some technical data seem incomplete?
Only data from users who gave their consent to cookies is available. The OS, Browsers, and Devices charts therefore only count these visitors.
