How do I link my bot to my experience?

Learn how to link your conversational bot to a Fastory experience, either by opening it automatically on a screen or via a bot button, to engage participants and collect qualified leads.

You can link your conversational bot to a Fastory experience to engage your participants at the right moment and collect the data that matters to you. Two methods are available: opening the bot automatically on a screen, or opening it via a button.

What is it for?

Linking your bot to an experience means orchestrating the conversation at the right moment. Automatic opening lets you catch every hot spot in the journey, while the button respects the user's choice. By combining relevant triggers, a clear promise, and GDPR-compliant data collection, you optimize both engagement and data quality: the perfect combo to collect leads and turn your audiences into customers.

How does it work?

Two options let you open your bot within your experience and collect the data that matters to you.

1. Open the bot automatically

  1. Go to your bot's settings and click No linked experience.
  1. Choose Link to an experience.
  1. Select your experience.
  1. Select the screen on which you want to trigger the automatic opening of your bot.
  1. Click Ok, then Save, and finally Publish.

You can trigger the bot on several screens at once by clicking the blue "+".

2. Open the bot via a button

  1. Go to the screen where you want to open your bot.
  1. Click the + to open the components and choose Bot button.
  1. In the bot button settings bar, on the left, select your bot sequence.
  1. Update your experience and you're all set.

Best practices

  • Trigger the automatic opening on high-intensity screens (results, rewards) to capture attention at the right moment.
  • Save the bot button for situations where you want to leave the choice to the participant and avoid any intrusion.
  • A/B test both approaches to identify the one that converts best.
  • Announce an explicit promise (coupon, prize draw) and break your questions into micro-steps.
  • Display clear consent notices and keep proof of opt-in to stay GDPR compliant.
  • Remember to save and publish so the link is actually active.

Concrete use cases

If you want to engage at the experience's peak moment

Go for automatic opening on a high-intensity screen, such as the results or rewards screen. The bot opens on its own and captures the participant when they are most receptive.

If you want to let the participant decide

Add a bot button on the screen of your choice and link it to your sequence. The participant opens the conversation whenever they want, which avoids any feeling of intrusion.

If you want to reach participants at several stages

Trigger the bot on several screens using the blue "+". This way you multiply the touchpoints throughout your experience's journey.

FAQ

How do I link my bot to an experience in 1 minute?

In Fastory, open the bot's settings, click No linked experience, then Link to an experience, choose the experience, select the trigger screen, and publish. That's it.

Automatic opening or button: which is the better choice?

It depends on the intent. Prefer automatic opening on a high-intensity screen (results, rewards) and the button when you want to leave the choice to the user or avoid intrusion. Ideally, test both options in Fastory with an A/B test.

Can I open the bot on several screens?

Yes. Click the blue "+" to add several trigger screens in your Fastory experience. It's handy for reaching participants at different moments of the journey.

How do I maximize lead collection with a bot?

Use an explicit promise (coupon, prize draw), ask your questions in micro-steps, and display clear consent notices. Then connect the collected fields to your CRM to make the most of your segments.

My bot doesn't open: what should I check?

Check the link to the experience, that it is published, that the right screen is selected, and, for a bot button, that the sequence is properly linked. If needed, clear the preview cache and relaunch your Fastory experience.

Is it GDPR compliant?

Yes, as long as you add the necessary notices and store the consents. Use explicit fields and keep proof of opt-in.
