Personality Test
Learn how to create a Personality Test mini-game in Fastory: set up your personalities, build swipeable statement cards, and reveal each participant's profile directly in the conversational Bot.
The Personality Test mini-game reveals to each participant a profile that matches them, based on their answers. Built on a card-swiping mechanic, it entertains your community or highlights a product, and displays the result directly in the conversational Bot.
What is it for?
The Personality Test lets you create a fun and engaging experience around your content or your products. You present the user with a series of cards featuring statements that describe a personality trait, a hobby or an activity. By accepting or rejecting these cards, the user builds their answer, then discovers the personality assigned to them.
Two main uses:
- Entertain your community with a fun test.
- Promote a product by pairing each profile with a recommendation.
How does it work?
You present users with cards featuring different statements. The user swipes each card to the left or to the right based on their preferences. At the end, they discover the test result directly in the conversational Bot.
The Personality Test is a variation of the Mini-game: Swipe Quiz. It is therefore made up of three steps:
- Intro: the welcome screen, where you present the goal of the game as well as the prizes.
- Game: the game screen, where the cards are displayed one after another.
- Lose or Win: the end screen, where you thank participants and redirect them to the next screen of your experience.
In a Personality Test, there is no winner or loser. Since the Lose and Win screens cannot be separated from the rest of the experience, customize them identically.
Part of the game must be set up via a script, in direct collaboration with the Fastory team.
Set up the Personality Test
Several steps are required to set up your Personality Test.
1. Create the personalities
The first step is to configure the different personalities. To do this, download and fill in the file provided for this purpose:
Fill in each column:
- Personality: the list of your different personalities. There is no limit to their number.
- Total: the number of cards per personality.
- Points / Card: the number of points assigned per card. Never modify this column, as it feeds a specific algorithm.
All personalities must have the same number of cards / statements. We recommend a minimum of 3 cards per personality to keep the test relevant.
Then, for the rows:
- Fill in the "Statement 1", "Statement 2" labels, and so on, with the statements that will appear on the cards.
- Enter a "1" to indicate which personality each statement corresponds to.
A card must correspond to only one personality: place the "1" on a single personality for each statement.
Finally, in the Personality tab, add the description of each personality as well as the name of the file containing the corresponding image. Then send this file for validation, along with the illustration images for each personality.
2. Create the mini-game in the platform
Once the file has been validated, start customizing the game from a Swipe Quiz (see Mini-game: Swipe Quiz):
- Customize the intro screen and the end screens.
- Add the cards containing the statements in the Cards tab, within the game Settings, on the left of the studio:
- Add the cards using the 600x800px format.
- Check the Correct answer box for all the cards you add.
- Enter the points for each card, exactly as you recorded them in the file.
- In the Settings, uncheck all the options except Show Exit button.
3. Customize the conversational Bot
The Personality Test result is displayed in the conversational Bot. For users to discover it, you need to create a conversational Bot (see How to create and set up my Bot).
Your Bot must start with a Simple message so that the result displays correctly.
You can also add CTA buttons in the Bot, after the result, to redirect to the personality screen (see step 4) or to take users to a product page or another destination. No other specific setup is needed afterwards: you can customize your Bot as usual.
4. Create one screen per personality (optional)
After creating your Personality Test, you can add more screens to your experience so users can discover the other existing personalities and their descriptions. To do this:
- Add a content screen by clicking the + button in the screen list, at the top of your experience.
- Customize the screen with the personality's image and description.
- Insert a CTA button to invite the user to take a new test.
Display the result in the Bot
Once the Personality Test has been created, contact the Fastory team so that a script can be added. The user can then discover the personality assigned to them, based on their choices, directly in the Bot.
You can try an example here: Test Marketing.
Best practices
- Plan the same number of cards for each personality, with a minimum of 3.
- Never modify the Points / Card column in the file.
- Assign each statement to a single personality.
- Customize the Lose and Win screens identically.
- Use the 600x800px format for the card images.
- Start your Bot with a Simple message.
- Have your file validated by the Fastory team before creating the game.
Concrete use cases
If you want to entertain your community
Build a fun test like "Which profile are you?". Each personality corresponds to a fun character or universe that the user discovers at the end of the game.
If you want to promote a product
Pair each personality with a product from your range. Add a CTA button in the Bot or on the personality screen to redirect the user to the product page matching their profile.
If you want to showcase all the profiles
Create one screen per personality (step 4) so that each participant can explore the other existing profiles and their descriptions, then invite them to take a new test.
FAQ
Does the Personality Test have a winner and a loser?
No. In this Fastory mini-game, there is no winner or loser: each participant simply gets a profile. The Lose and Win screens must therefore be customized identically.
How many personalities can I create?
There is no limit to the number of personalities in Fastory. Just make sure every personality has the same number of cards.
How many cards should I plan per personality?
All personalities must have the same number of cards. Fastory recommends a minimum of 3 cards per personality to keep the test relevant.
Where is the test result displayed?
The result is displayed in the conversational Bot of your Fastory experience. For it to appear correctly, your Bot must start with a Simple message.
Can I modify the points assigned to each card?
No. The Points / Card column in the file must never be modified, as it feeds the algorithm that calculates the assigned personality.
Do I need to contact Fastory to set up the game?
Yes. Part of the Personality Test relies on a script added by the Fastory team. First send your file for validation, then contact the team to have the script added.
