Getting started with Fanzone

The stars in your Fanzone

Learn how fans earn stars in your Fanzone, how each game awards up to 5 stars, and how stars drive levels, leaderboards, and in-game currency.

Stars are the central unit of progression in your Fanzone. Every action a fan takes earns stars, which raise their level and feed their leaderboard position.

What are stars for?

Stars are the "progression currency" of your gamification. They are what move fans up through the levels, determine their place in the leaderboards and, through levels, unlock the in-game currency that can be spent in the reward shop.

How do fans earn stars?

Fans earn stars in three main ways.

1. By playing games

Each game can award up to 5 stars, based on performance. The scale depends on the game mechanic. For example:

  • Quiz and Calendar quiz: 50% correct answers (1 star), 75% (2), 90% (3), 100% (4), fast answers (5);
  • Toss game and Football: 50% of goals (1), 75% (2), 100% (3), perfect run (4), fast completion (5);
  • Memory: 50% of pairs (1), 75% (2), all pairs (3), perfect run (4), speed (5);
  • Crusher, Shooter, Faster: based on the percentage of the target reached, up to 150% for 5 stars.

2. Based on the leaderboard

Fans also earn stars based on their position in the weekly or seasonal leaderboards: the higher the ranking, the more stars they receive.

3. Through bonus actions (coming soon)

In addition, fans will be able to earn bonus stars by completing simple actions: creating an account, sharing a game, taking part in a selfie, a prediction or a vote, referring a friend, or keeping up a weekly participation streak. These actions encourage regular activity beyond game performance alone.

Specific rules for quizzes and predictions

To keep things fair across game mechanics, some games follow specific rules:

  • Prediction games: 1 star per question. At least 5 questions are needed to make 5 stars possible.
  • Quiz: 1 star per correct answer, plus 1 bonus star for speed. At least 4 questions are needed to make 5 stars possible.
  • Vote, selfie and swipe survey games: 1 fixed star per participation, whatever the result.

Best practices

  • Include at least 5 questions in your predictions and 4 in your quizzes so fans can aim for 5 stars.
  • Reward leaderboard positions on top of game performance to keep the competition going all season long.
  • Vary the game mechanics so every type of fan finds a game where they can shine and collect stars.

Concrete use cases

If you want to encourage regular play

Lean on the weekly leaderboards: every week, the top fans earn extra stars, which gives them a reason to come back.

If you want to speed up level progression

Offer short, replayable games where 5 stars are achievable: fans will play again to improve their score and level up faster.
