Exclude specific Experiences from the overall leaderboard
Learn how to exclude an Experience from your Fanzone's overall leaderboard when publishing it, so VIP areas and private events run independently of your global gamification system.
Are you running a special activation, such as a VIP area or a private event, and want to keep it from affecting your Fanzone's overall leaderboard? You can now exclude an Experience from the global gamification system when you publish it.
What is it for?
By default, every Experience in your Fanzone feeds into a shared gamification mechanic: participants accumulate points and are ranked in a shared overall leaderboard.
Some activations, however, are not meant to be part of this competition. Excluding an Experience from the overall leaderboard lets you run it completely independently, without disrupting your main competitive mechanic.
How does it work?
- Open the Experience you want to keep independent from the overall leaderboard.
- Start publishing it via Publish.
- Enable the option to exclude the Experience from the global gamification system before confirming publication.
Once this option is enabled, the Experience runs on its own, with no link to the shared leaderboard of the rest of your Fanzone.
What changes in practice
When an Experience is excluded from the overall leaderboard:
- Participants do not accumulate global points.
- They do not appear in the overall leaderboard.
- The activation remains independent from the rest of your ecosystem.
Best practices
- Reserve this exclusion for activations that should stand apart, such as VIP access or a private moment, rather than for your main Experiences.
- Decide on the exclusion at the publication stage, so the gamification logic is clear from the moment the Experience goes live.
- Keep the Experiences designed to fuel the competition within the overall leaderboard, so your competitive mechanic stays clear and consistent.
Concrete use cases
If you want to run a VIP area without skewing the leaderboard
Offer a dedicated Experience to your most valued guests while excluding it from the overall leaderboard: your VIPs enjoy the activation without their entries changing the leaderboard your entire audience follows.
If you want to organize a private event
Run an activation reserved for a one-off event independently. Entries remain isolated from your main ecosystem and affect neither global points nor the shared leaderboard.
If you want to preserve your main competitive mechanic
Run as many one-off or exclusive activations as you like without diluting your Fanzone's central competition: only the Experiences you choose feed the overall leaderboard.
FAQ
What happens to the points of participants in an excluded Experience?
They do not accumulate any global points. Taking part in this Experience has no effect on the score tracked in your Fanzone's overall leaderboard.
Does an excluded Experience appear in my Fanzone's overall leaderboard?
No. Participants in an excluded Experience do not appear in the overall leaderboard: the activation lives independently from the rest of your ecosystem.
When can I exclude an Experience from the overall leaderboard?
When you publish the Experience. It's as you put it live that you choose whether or not to exclude it from Fastory's global gamification system.
Is this feature suitable for a VIP activation or a private event?
Yes. It is designed to handle exclusive activations, such as a VIP area or a private event, without disrupting your Fanzone's main competitive mechanic.
Does excluding an Experience disrupt my main competitive mechanic?
No. The excluded Experience remains independent from the rest of your ecosystem, allowing you to keep your Fanzone's central competition fully intact.
Can I exclude several Experiences from the overall leaderboard?
Yes. You decide on an Experience-by-Experience basis which ones join the overall leaderboard and which stay excluded, so you can tailor your gamification mechanic to your activations.
