Memory Game

Learn how to create and customize a Memory Game on Fastory: game flow, image dimensions, best practices, and concrete use cases to engage your community.

The Memory Game invites your participants to find pairs of identical images. It is a simple, universal mechanic, perfect for engaging your community while showcasing your visual identity.

What is it for?

The Memory Game tests your participants' memory: they flip cards to find the matching image pairs. This playful mechanic lets you entertain your community, showcase your own visuals, and pair the experience with prizes to win.

Create a Memory Game

Once the Add-on is activated, you can create your Memory Game in a few steps:

  1. Choose the microsite format.
  1. Add a new screen in the timeline.
  1. Select Memory game.

The goal of the game is to find the matching image pairs.

Game flow

The Memory Game is made up of three steps: the intro, the game, and the result (lost or won).

  • Intro: the game's welcome screen, where you present the goal of the game and the prizes.
  • Game: the play screen, where the participant flips the cards to form pairs.
  • Lost or won: the end screen, where you thank participants and redirect them to the next screen of your experience.

Style and settings customization

You can add your own images (at least three different ones) and adapt the game to your universe. The following elements can be customized:

  • the background image, which fills the entire screen;
  • the front side of the cards;
  • the difficulty level;
  • the game duration.

You can also add bonus or trap cards, for example, to vary the difficulty and make the game more dynamic.

Image formats

For an optimal display, follow these dimensions:

  • Card: 128 x 128 px
  • Particles: 64 x 64 px
  • Background image: 1999 x 1999 px

The background image is automatically resized to fit the screen size on mobile. The recommended ratio is 9:16.

Best practices

  • Prepare at least three distinct, easily identifiable images so the pairs remain easy to recognize on mobile.
  • Stick to the recommended dimensions to avoid distorted or pixelated images.
  • Choose a background image with a 9:16 ratio for a clean full-screen display.
  • Adjust the difficulty level and game duration based on your audience and the context of your activation.
  • Use the intro screen to clearly announce the prizes and make people want to play.
  • Polish the end screen to thank participants and guide them to the next step of your experience.

Offer the Memory Game with a short duration and a higher difficulty level to create a fast-paced challenge, then redirect winners to a prize to collect.
