The Video Block
Learn how to embed a hosted video in your Fanzone with the Video Block: autoplay, smart sound button, text overlay, action button, and display formats.
The Video Block lets you embed a hosted video directly in your Fanzone. You control playback, sound, the displayed text, and the action triggered by fans.
What is it for?
The Video Block puts video content at the heart of your page. It is ideal for showcasing a campaign, a teaser, a match highlight, or a message from your brand.
The video can start automatically, without sound, as soon as the fan reaches the section. It stays smooth on mobile and catches the eye without disrupting navigation.
You can also add text over the video and an action button to turn a simple view into a click towards your website, your ticketing platform, or another destination.
Add a Video Block
- Open your Fanzone in the back office.
- Click Add a Block.
- In the Content category, select Video.
- Upload your video via Video.
- Adjust the playback options, the text, and the button.
Main features
Upload a hosted video
The Block accepts videos you host on Fastory. You upload them directly from the media library. To embed a YouTube video, use the YouTube Block instead.
Muted autoplay
Enable Autoplay so the video starts on its own as soon as it becomes visible. To comply with browser rules, the video always starts without sound. It then plays on a loop.
If autoplay is disabled, the first frame is displayed and the fan starts the video with a single click.
Smart sound button
A sound button lets the fan turn on the audio whenever they want. This button appears once playback has started.
It is hidden automatically when the video contains no audio track. There is no point offering sound on a silent video.
When autoplay is enabled, you can choose to show or hide this button with the Show sound button option. If you hide it, the video stays muted at all times.
Text overlay
Add text above or around the video using the text editor. You choose its position: above, below, left, right, or directly overlaid on the video.
In overlay mode, you also set the text alignment so it blends well with the image.
Action button
You can add an action button below the video. It is the only element that triggers a redirect.
Clicking the video itself pauses or resumes playback, but never redirects the fan. Redirection is reserved for the button, which prevents accidental clicks.
The button can lead to a website, a social network, a Fanzone tab, or a conversation. A button without a title stays hidden by default.
Display format
In the style settings, choose the video format: 1:1, 9:16, 16:9, or 4:3. Match the format to your content, for example 9:16 for a vertical video.
Best practices
- Choose a short, punchy video to capture attention from the very first seconds.
- Keep in mind that the video starts without sound: polish the visuals and add clear text if the message matters.
- Add an explicit action button to turn the view into a useful click.
- Use the 9:16 format for the best rendering on mobile.
- Hide the sound button if your video is not meant to be listened to.
Concrete use cases
If you want to showcase a campaign teaser, use autoplay
Upload your teaser, enable muted autoplay, and add a Participate button that leads to your game or your form. The fan discovers the content, then takes action in one click.
If you want to share an audio message, keep the sound button visible
For an interview or a voice message, keep the sound button displayed. The fan can turn on the audio whenever they want, while first discovering the video in silence.
