Getting started with Fanzone
The Sports Calendar Block
Learn how to display upcoming matches and sports events in your Fanzone with the Calendar Block: follow teams and leagues, add manual events, show bookmaker odds, and choose your display mode.
The Calendar Block displays a sports schedule in your Fanzone, with the upcoming matches and events of your teams and competitions. Your fans can see the next key dates at a glance.
What is it for?
This Block centralizes your sports calendar in the same place as the rest of your content. It automatically follows the teams and leagues you choose and displays their fixtures.
The benefit is keeping your audience informed effortlessly: as soon as a match is scheduled, it appears in the schedule. You can also add your own events, even if they are not covered by a sports data source.
It is an ideal Block for clubs, federations, media outlets, and sports brands that want to engage their community around the match calendar.
Depending on your plan, this Block may require the sports calendar option to be enabled on your workspace.
Add the Calendar Block to your Fanzone
- Open your Fanzone in the editor.
- Add a new Block.
- Select the Calendar Block.
- Follow your teams and competitions, then save.
Main features
Follow teams and competitions
- Use the search to find a team or a league.
- Type at least 3 characters to start the search.
- Select the team or competition from the results.
- Upcoming fixtures are retrieved automatically.
The search covers football and MMA, with basketball, handball, and hockey coming soon. You can follow several teams and several leagues in the same Block.
Add a manual event
For an event not covered by a sports data source, add it yourself.
- Click Event.
- Choose the relevant sport.
- Fill in the teams or fighters, the competition, the date, and the time.
- If needed, add the status and the result.
Manage the displayed fixtures
From each followed team or league, you can:
- hide or show a specific fixture;
- swap the order of the teams displayed on a match;
- remove a team or a competition from your follows.
Display bookmaker odds
You can select a reference bookmaker to display odds on fixtures. Three display styles are available:
Style | What it displays |
Separated | Colored gauges for each outcome |
Compact | Simple numbers with team codes |
Simple | A progress bar with win probabilities |
If no bookmaker is selected, odds are not displayed.
Choose the display mode
The Block offers several display modes:
- Calendar: displays events by date, with day-by-day navigation;
- List: displays live fixtures, upcoming ones, and the most recently finished;
- Mosaic: grid view, coming soon.
In Calendar mode, if no fixture is scheduled on the selected date, a button lets you jump straight to the next day with matches.
Best practices
- Follow a league rather than each team one by one when you want to cover a whole competition.
- Hide the fixtures that are not relevant to your audience to keep the schedule easy to read.
- Only enable the odds display if it is relevant to your community.
- Use manual events for special dates: a gala, a friendly match, a club event.
- Check the display mode on mobile, since most fans view the Fanzone on their phone.
Concrete use cases
If you want to keep your fans informed about upcoming matches, follow your teams
Search for your teams or your league, let the calendar fill in automatically, then publish. The schedule stays up to date as matchdays go by.
If you want to highlight a special event, add it manually
Create a manual event with its date and teams, then place it in your calendar alongside the official fixtures.
