How to create conversation journeys in the bot?
Learn how to build conditional conversation journeys in the Fastory bot to guide, segment, and qualify your audiences based on their answers.
Conversational journeys let you create dynamic, personalized dialogues based on your users' answers. By combining several message types, you build real paths that adapt to each person's choices.
What is it for?
A conversational journey guides your audiences, segments your leads, and delivers a tailor-made experience. Depending on the answers given, you can for example steer a fan toward a ticketing page, an interactive contest, or a special offer.
With the Bot conversational journey add-on, a simple interaction becomes a personalized interactive experience: your paths automatically adapt to users' choices, whether it's for an event, a contest, or a fan engagement campaign.
How does it work?
A journey is built by adding conditional logic to a message. Here are the steps to follow, illustrated here with the single choice message type:
- Insert the single choice question into your bot.
- Set up the question and the possible answers.
- Click Add logic.
- Insert as many logic rules as you have answers.
- Choose the answer after which you want to create a path.
- Choose which message you want to redirect the user to.
The message types that create paths
Several message types can serve as the starting point of a journey. Conditional logic is added the same way for each of them.
Single choice
The user selects one of the predefined answers, and each answer can open a different path. It's the ideal type for cleanly segmenting your audiences.
Instant Win
The steps are the same as for the single choice. Here you can create different journeys depending on the Instant Win results.
Legal notice
The steps are the same as for the single choice.
Free text
Depending on the answer typed by the user, you can redirect them to a specific message.
Warning: think of every possibility in terms of spelling, capitalization, etc., and add as many conditions as there are possibilities.
Date
This message type is typically used to ask for a date of birth. You can filter users, for example if the game is restricted to adults, by redirecting underage players to the end of the journey.
The Past date only option lets the player select only a date in the past relative to the day of participation: they cannot choose a future date.
Best practices
- Add a logic rule for each possible answer so that no user is left without a destination.
- Use the single choice for predefined answers when you want to segment your audiences.
- For free text, anticipate all spelling and capitalization variants, and create a condition for each one.
- Use free text when you need to collect precise insights through open-ended answers.
- Use the Date message to filter by age, for example to redirect underage players to the end of the journey.
Concrete use cases
If you want to guide your fans to the right destination
Use a single choice, then redirect each answer to the appropriate destination: ticketing, interactive contest, or special offer.
If you want to restrict your game to adults
Use the Date message type to ask for the date of birth, then redirect underage players to the end of the journey.
If you want to adapt what comes next based on a game result
Use the Instant Win message and create a distinct journey depending on the result obtained.
If you want to collect open-ended answers
Use free text while anticipating all spelling and capitalization variants, so that every user is redirected correctly.
