Getting started with Fastory

Periodic Quiz

Learn how to create a Periodic Quiz on Fastory: reveal questions daily, weekly, or monthly like an Advent calendar to engage your audience and collect qualified leads.

The Periodic Quiz is a mechanic inspired by the Advent calendar: it reveals questions at regular intervals, daily, weekly, or monthly. Fun and engaging, this format is ideal for creating a recurring touchpoint with your audience, building participant loyalty, and boosting your lead collection.

What is it for?

The Periodic Quiz turns a simple series of questions into a genuine recurring event. Instead of revealing everything at once, you release your questions at the pace you choose, which makes participants want to come back regularly.

In practice, this format lets you:

  • Create a recurring touchpoint that builds a habit with your audience.
  • Build participant loyalty throughout an entire campaign.
  • Collect qualified leads with every visit.
  • Make your questions attractive with photos, videos, or GIFs in your brand colors.

Create a Periodic Quiz

  1. Create a new Experience.
  1. Add a new screen.
  1. Select Periodic Quiz.

You then choose between two setup methods:

  • Automatic distribution: questions are automatically spread over a period you define.
  • Manual distribution: you create each period yourself and add your questions to it.

Automatic setup

  1. Once the screen is added, click Create a periodic quiz.
  1. Select:
      • the period (for example, from December 1 to December 24),
      • the frequency (daily, weekly, or monthly),
      • the number of questions per period.
  1. Customize your questions (text, images, videos, GIFs).

For example, if you want to reveal 2 questions per day from December 1 to December 24, the distribution is generated automatically to cover the entire period.

Manual setup

  1. Click Add a period.
  1. Define the period, then add your questions.
  1. Each question is attached to the period you defined.

You keep full freedom to organize your quiz: you can move periods and questions around, and add several questions to the same period.

To discover the different question types available, see the article Mini-game: Quiz.

Game structure

A Periodic Quiz follows the same structure as a classic Quiz, organized in three stages:

  • Intro: present the goal of the game and the prizes to be won.
  • Game: participants answer the day's questions.
  • Result (win or lose): thank your participants and redirect them to a next step (your website, your social media, or the next screen).

Launch and analyze your quiz

Once your periods and questions are created:

  • Launch your experience to your audience.
  • Find all the results in the Audience section, under All your mini-game participations, exportable in CSV format.

The CSV export lets you measure participation period after period and optimize your next campaigns.

Best practices

  • Align the period and frequency with a real key moment (end-of-year holidays, a competition, a launch) to make the most of the recurring format.
  • Vary the question formats (text, image, video, GIF) to hold attention throughout the period.
  • Take care with the Intro screen: clearly announce the pace and the prizes to make participants want to come back every day.
  • Use the Result screen to redirect participants to your website or social media and extend engagement.
  • Regularly export your results as CSV to track how participation evolves.

Concrete use cases

If you want to run an Advent calendar

Schedule a period from December 1 to December 24 and let the automatic distribution reveal your questions day after day, like the doors of an Advent calendar.

If you want to support a sports event

Spread your questions across the entire duration of a competition, for example a World Cup, to keep fans engaged from the first match to the last.

If you want to build loyalty over time

Use weekly or monthly distribution to turn your quiz into a loyalty program, with a regular touchpoint that brings your audience back.

If you want to collect event-driven leads

Pair a key moment (back-to-school season, a product launch) with a Periodic Quiz to capture qualified leads with every newly revealed question.
