How to create an Instant Win?

Set up an Instant Win on Fastory step by step: prepare your prizes, configure the contest and win limits, insert the game into the conversational Bot, and retrieve your winners.

The Instant Win is a game in which the participant finds out immediately whether they have won a prize, after filling in their information in the conversational Bot.

What is it for?

The Instant Win lets you distribute prizes in a fun, instant way while collecting participants' contact details. The result (win or lose) is displayed directly in the Bot, which makes it an ideal format for event activations as well as digital campaigns.

Step 1: set up the prizes

  1. From your workspace, go to Prizes and click + Prizes.
  1. Fill in the title, description, quantity, and image, then click Confirm.
  1. The prize appears in the list.

Step 2: set up the contest

  1. Go to the Contests tab, click + Contest, then Instant Win.
  1. Fill in the contest title, the time zone, and the game period (dates and times).
  1. Set the maximum number of wins per day and per player, and over the whole duration of the game.
  1. Depending on your needs, choose Allow winning without email (live activation without data collection) or Allow winning without phone (checked by default).
  1. Enter the number of prizes to give away for each type of reward, then click Save: the Instant Wins are generated automatically according to the configured dates.

After generation, you can regenerate the dates, edit them manually, or set some prizes to Priority so they come first over the others on the same day. The number of prizes to be won cannot exceed the total number of rewards you offer.

Step 3: insert the Instant Win into the Bot

  1. In the Bot, add the Instant Win question, always after the email question (unless the "Allow winning without email" option is enabled).
  1. Insert a message in the first field so the Instant Win triggers.
  1. Select the game type (countdown or scratch game) and the contest in the dropdown menus.
  1. Customize the end messages in the Messages settings: losing message, winning message, multiple-win message.

For a scratch game, some visuals need to be customized. You can also create different conversation journeys depending on whether the player wins or loses.

Step 4: publish the Bot

Check your changes, click Save, then Publish.

Step 5: retrieve the winners

  1. Go to the Contests tab: the contest shows the number of winners and remaining prizes.
  1. Hover over the contest and click Download to get the winners' CSV file (visitor ID, status, contact details, prize won).
  1. Contact the winners to send them their rewards.

Best practices

  • Always ask for the email (or phone) before the Instant Win question: without it, the player automatically loses.
  • Insert a message in the question's first field to trigger the game.
  • Set win limits per day and over the game's duration to control your stock.
  • Set your prizes to Priority when several rewards are offered on the same day.

Concrete use cases

If you run a trade show or a live activation

Enable Allow winning without email, share a QR code, hand out the rewards on site, and track your stock in real time.

If you distribute promo codes

Use unique-codes prizes: each winner receives a code, which can be displayed as a QR code in the chatbot for direct use at the checkout.

If you want to qualify your winners

Ask for the email and/or phone before the Instant Win so you can contact the winners afterwards.

FAQ

Why do you need to ask for the email before the Instant Win?

The email (or phone) must be requested before the Instant Win question so the winner can be contacted. Otherwise, the player automatically loses, regardless of the number of attempts.

How do you run an Instant Win with only the phone number?

Enable "Allow winning without email", disable "Allow winning without phone", and place the Phone question before the Instant Win in the Bot.

Can a visitor play several times a day?

They can try again several times a day after losing, but can only win once per reward. A custom message is displayed if they play again after a win.

What is the "Allow winning without email" option for?

It is for running a live game (trade show, store, street marketing) without data collection, where winners receive their reward on site; or for collecting only the phone number.

Why do I see the same email several times in the winners file?

The participant may have won several rewards with the same email. A win remains tied to an email, though: the same person cannot win the same reward twice.

Can a unique code be displayed as a QR code?

Yes. Unique codes (QR code Datamatrix type) can be displayed directly in the chatbot, so the winner can show them at the checkout from their smartphone.
