Fastory Studio
How do I optimize my experience for search engines (SEO)?
Learn how to set custom SEO metadata for each screen of your Fastory experience: keywords in the URL, page title, description, and social media previews.
Each screen of your experience can have its own organic search presence. You can set specific metadata screen by screen to optimize your experience's SEO on search engines.
What is it for?
When you publish your experience, you can already customize the metadata for the experience as a whole (see the article How to change your social media metadata).
Screen-by-screen SEO goes further: it lets you define metadata specific to each screen in the timeline, when you need to maximize customization and organic search visibility.
This is particularly useful when your experience is used as a website, where each screen in the timeline corresponds to a specific page (home, ticketing, etc.). Each screen is then optimized individually on search engines.
Note: this refers to the timeline screens, meaning the different content and game template screens of your experience, not the intro, game, and end screens.
Configure the SEO of a screen
- In your experience's studio, select the screen whose SEO you want to optimize with keywords.
- Go to Settings, then open the SEO tab.
- Fill in the customizable fields described below, then publish your experience to apply the changes.
The customizable fields
The SEO tab gives you access to several sections:
- Keywords in the URL: the keywords are added after the domain name. For example:
story.tl/test-help/0-keywords.
- Page title: customize the screen's title.
- Page description: add a description specific to this part of your experience.
- Social media title: customize the title that will appear when the screen's URL is shared in a social media post.
- Social media description: customize the description that will appear when the screen's URL is shared in a social media post.
- Social media image: choose the image displayed to illustrate the link when it is shared in a social media post, for example on X.
Best practices
- Reserve screen-by-screen SEO for experiences where each screen serves as a distinct page (home, ticketing, presentation...).
- Choose short, descriptive keywords in the URL that reflect the actual content of the screen.
- Write a unique title and description for each screen rather than duplicating the same metadata everywhere.
- Take care with the social media title, description, and image: they are what make people want to click when the link is shared.
- After making your changes, publish your experience again so the new SEO settings are taken into account.
Concrete use cases
If you want to use your experience as a website
Give each screen in the timeline (home, ticketing...) its own title, description, and keywords in the URL. Each screen then behaves like an independent page, optimized for search engines.
If you want to fine-tune sharing on social media
Fill in the dedicated social media title, description, and image for the screen you share most often. The link will then display an appealing, consistent preview in posts.
If you want to highlight a key screen
Customize the keywords in the URL of a strategic screen (for example, ticketing) to boost its visibility on related searches.
FAQ
Can I optimize each screen independently for search engines on Fastory?
Yes. In the Fastory studio, each screen in the timeline can have its own SEO metadata via the SEO tab in the Settings.
Which screens can be optimized for search engines?
Screen-by-screen SEO applies to the content and game template screens in the timeline. The intro, game, and end screens are not included.
What is the difference between screen-by-screen SEO and my experience's global metadata?
Global metadata applies to the whole experience, while screen-by-screen SEO lets you define a title, description, image, and keywords specific to each screen for finer control.
How do the keywords appear in the URL?
They are added after your experience's domain name, for example story.tl/test-help/0-keywords, which makes the URL more readable and more relevant for search engines.
Do I need to republish my experience after changing the SEO settings?
Yes. As with other customizations, publish your experience so the new SEO settings take effect.
Does screen-by-screen SEO work with a custom domain?
Yes. If your Fastory experience runs on your own domain, the keywords in the URL are added after that domain, as in the example of an experience used as a website.
