Fastory Studio
How do I test my experience without publishing it? Draft mode.
Learn how to test your Fastory experience privately in draft mode: preview every screen, share a test URL or QR code with colleagues or clients, and validate changes before publishing.
Before making your experience visible to the public, you can test it in complete privacy using draft mode. It lets you check how everything looks, validate every screen, and share a preview with your colleagues or your client, without players seeing your experience yet.
What is it for?
Draft mode lets you preview your experience and have it validated internally before it goes live. In practice, you can:
- See the actual rendering of your experience while you edit it in the studio.
- Share a private preview with your colleagues or your client to gather their feedback.
- Validate all your changes before publishing, with no impact on players.
Test your experience in Draft mode
- Open your experience in the studio.
- If your experience is in Draft mode, click Test.
- The preview opens: you can then browse your experience exactly as a player would.
A Preview banner indicates that the experience is not public. It lets you view all your changes without players being able to see them.
Share the test link
To show your experience to your colleagues or your client, click the QR Code icon. You can then:
- Copy the test URL and send it to anyone you choose.
- Scan the QR code to test the experience directly on your mobile.
Keep in mind two important points about the test URL:
- It cannot be shared with the public: it is reserved for internal use or client validation.
- Data entered on this test URL is not saved.
Test an already published experience
If your experience is in Published mode, you can still access the draft: click the QR Code icon, then the Draft tab. You will find the same sharing options (test URL and QR code) to preview your changes before publishing them, without touching the version players already see.
Best practices
- Always test your experience in draft mode before publishing it, to check every screen.
- Use the QR code to check the actual rendering on a smartphone, the device most of your players will use.
- Never share the test URL publicly: it is private, and data entered on it is not kept.
- Share the test link with your client to have the experience validated before it goes live, rather than publishing too early.
Concrete use cases
If you want your client to validate the experience
Click the QR Code icon, copy the test URL, and send it to your client. They can browse the experience and share their feedback before publication, without it being visible to the public.
If you want to check the rendering on mobile
In the studio, click the QR Code icon, then scan the QR code with your phone. The preview opens immediately on your mobile, letting you check the actual display on the player side.
If you want to edit an experience that is already live
From Published mode, click the QR Code icon, then the Draft tab. Prepare and check your changes in preview, then publish them only once they have been validated.
