How does sharing and referral work for your game from the bot?

Learn how to enable sharing and referral from the bot on Fastory so participants can spread your game, boost their chances of winning, and be tracked through referrer and referee data.

Sharing and referral let your participants spread your game to the people around them and increase their chances of winning. This option is enabled from the bot when you create a game on mobile, and it multiplies the visibility of your experience with no extra effort on your part.

What is it for?

Sharing and referral increase the visibility of your publication. Your participants can share your game with their friends and colleagues, and increase their own chances of winning in the process.

Each share creates a link between a referrer (the person who shares the game) and their referees (the people who take part thanks to that share). You can then find these relationships in your data to measure the impact of the mechanic.

Set up sharing and referral from the bot

  1. Open your bot's settings.
  1. Select Share and Referral.
  1. Link your bot to the relevant experience.
  1. Add the message that will accompany the share.
  1. Enable the social networks on which you want to allow sharing.

Once the bot is configured, publish your experience:

  1. Go to the Publish tab.
  1. Publish the experience.

After publishing, fill in the metadata. It defines the visual and the text that will appear when the game is shared.

Share the game from the experience

Once the experience is published, your participants can share the game by clicking the Share button. A window then opens with all the enabled social networks: they simply pick the network they want, then share.

Retrieve sharing and referral data

  1. From your experience, open the Audience page.
  1. Select the experience, then the relevant bot.
  1. Click Edit table, then select Code.
  1. Export the CSV file.

In the resulting file:

  • The visitor ID column contains the referrer's code.
  • The code column contains the code matching the referee.

You can then link each referee to the referrer who brought them to your game.

Best practices

  • Write a clear, compelling share message before publishing your experience.
  • Only enable the social networks that are relevant to your audience.
  • Fill in the metadata carefully (visual and text) to make the share attractive.
  • Don't forget to link the bot to the experience: without this link, sharing will not work.
  • Regularly export the CSV file from the Audience page to track your referrals.

Concrete use cases

If you want to increase the reach of your game

Enable sharing on several social networks and remind your participants that they increase their chances of winning by sharing your game with their friends and colleagues.

If you want to reward your best ambassadors

Export the data from the Audience page and use the visitor ID and code columns to identify the referrers who brought in the most referees.

If you want to polish the shared image

Fill in the metadata after publishing to control the visual and the text displayed when a participant shares your game.

FAQ

How do I enable sharing and referral on my Fastory game?

Go to the bot's settings, select Share and Referral, link the bot to your experience, add a message, then enable the social networks you want.

Where do my participants find the share button?

Once the experience is published, a Share button appears in the experience. By clicking it, your participants access a window listing all the available social networks.

What is the metadata for when publishing?

The metadata defines the visual and the text displayed when a participant shares your game. You fill it in on Fastory after publishing the experience.

How do I know who referred whom?

Export the CSV file from the Audience page. The visitor ID column contains the referrer's code and the code column contains the referee's, which lets you link each referee to their referrer.

Does sharing increase my participants' chances of winning?

Yes. By sharing your game with their friends and colleagues, your participants increase their own chances of winning while boosting the visibility of your publication.

On which medium can I offer sharing and referral?

This option is enabled when you create a game on mobile, directly from the bot's settings in Fastory.
